Does it matter where you domain is hosted?  Will that affect your page rank?

No, It doesn’t matter who hosts your website, but it does matter WHERE your site is being hosted.  Location of your hosts servers and other elements can have a huge impact on how your website ranks on Search Engines.

If you are located in the United States and your site is hosted on a server in Singapore, it will negatively affect your site’s page rank. Search crawlers will read your site and find its contradictory to your location.  Many search engines include local results on their search engine results page which take into account your geographic location.

Another element to consider is the amount of time your domain has been registered. There are developers who purchase “throw away” domains for the sole purpose of spamming. These domains are active for no more than a year because they are usually shut down within that time frame.   Due to that practice, some search engines have added a ranking criteria for domains that have been registered for longer periods of time.
