Google Removed Third-Party Reviews From Place Pages!

Google has decided to remove third-party reviews from its Google Places pages. This means the reviews listed on business listing services such as Yelp or Trip Advisor will no longer populate your reviews on your Google Places page for your business. To encourage users to leave reviews directly from the Google Places page, they did add two large, red “Write a review” buttons. This change by Google signals a belief that they can depend on the size of their user base for reviews and ratings for business listings. Though some speculate this change was brought about due to pressure and complaints from large business listing services like Yelp. Regardless, if you are a small business owner, you will notice that your Google Places page is probably pretty bare now that only Google user reviews show. Now instead of relying on Google to display your reviews from other sites, its time to actively seek Google reviews as well.
