Deadly Marketing Mistake #10: Getting Stuck in the Checkout Line

The Checkout Line Sucks

No, not that line at the grocery store where you have to wait 10 minutes just to buy one package of toilet paper.

I am talking about a different Checkout Line.

It’s starting a social media post with the term “Check Out…”

Check out of paying attention to me.

We have all done it. It is time to stop. It’s desperate.

Would you walk up to your friends and say, “Look at me?”  You probably haven’t done that since your death-defying dive on the high board at your community pool in 7th grade.

Ouch.

If you use the “Checkout Line” your marketing will be a flop. Pun intended.

There is no need to say “Check out.” Stop it. Don’t do it. (I really want to swear here!)  Don’t use the term “Check This Out” in your social media unless you have added a shopping cart and you literally want people to check out and purchase your products.

If you are looking for an opening line, think about starting with “Why?”
