More time spent on Facebook then Google?

It has been reported that Internet users are now spending more time socializing on Facebook then searching on Google, this data comes from a market research study performed by ComScore. This data has been collected by over 2 million users and data analysis from participating websites.

In August alone people had spent 41.1 million minutes on Facebook surpassing the 39.9 million minutes spent on Google, Gmail, Google News and YouTube combined.

Yahoo was reported to come in third place to spend time online totaling 37.7 million minutes. Just in past months Facebook snuck right by Yahoo for more time spent online.

ComScore had also noted that just three years ago in August 2007 Internet users spent 2 percent of their time on Facebook, 4 percent on Google and 12 percent on Yahoo.

Facebook has grown in users undoubtably from 2007 and still has more room to grow in the foreign markets. ComScore notes that Facebook has yet to reach it’s maximum potential in countries like Russia, Japan, South Korea amongst others. Facebook has already seen great success in India where it has grown to over 20.9 million users passing up Googles Orkut’s with 19.9 million users.
