3 Ways to Improve Your Blog Posts

Make Your Headings Clear

Hierarchy of type is always important to consider in any piece you create, especially if it is going to be read by other people.  When blogging, think about what the main idea of your blog post is and use that as your largest header.  Similar to how newspapers structure their text, you wouldn’t place a random or insignificant piece of text at the top of the page in bold, large font.  For the greatest rate of success, stick to hooks, or phrases that tell the reader what the post is about and makes them to read onwards.  Failure to do so can lead to your readers losing interest in what you have to say and as a result, more potential clients are out the door.

Content is King

Blogging is more important now than ever before in establishing your web presence.  Consequently, users have become so accustomed to reading blogs that they have become very good at weeding out good content from the bad.  What this means is that if the blog post they are reading is not relevant to the topic they were searching for they will immediately leave your site, go back to Google and continue the search.  One way to ensure your content is golden is to do your research.  For example, if you are writing about a new technology, make sure you know it inside and out.  It can often be beneficial to view other peoples blog posts on the subject.  Making sure that your posts contain relevant and good quality content is absolutely essential.

Do it Differently

Expanding on what I said above, do your research, look at your competitors and do it differently!  The internet is home to millions of blogs, what are you going to do to make yours stand out?  Be unconventional, conversational and most of all unique.  Write about things you are passionate about or at the very least you find interesting.  Try and take a different angle on whatever you are writing about and make your words stand out in peoples’ minds.  When people search the topic in question you want them to land on your post, find it interesting enough to share and then spread the word.  This will ultimately lead to your success online.
