Our team is proud to announce the launch of the State of Florida’s Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) website. The GAL program provides a voice for Florida’s abused, neglected, and abandoned children so we were delighted to provide a newly designed WordPress site for their association. The 30,000 children within the GAL program are in dire need of volunteers, advocacy, and court representation and most of the program’s funding comes from donations so we knew we had to put forth our best effort for the kids! After discussing the needs and goals of the organization we formulated a design plan that would connect volunteers, empower employees, and educate visitors in a clean easy to navigate website design.

Website Features

Because GAL.org is a government site it must comply with ADA standards which presented a new challenge for our team. This standard necessitates certain coding practices that enable screen readers to translate the page for those users who need such devices and while this was something we had never done we always welcome the opportunity to broaden our scope of services.

As a program that is heavily dependent on volunteers the GAL site needs to educate those who may want to volunteer and provide a way for volunteers to connect with the organization. Our incorporation of a clean design allowed us to present this information in an easy to navigate format and our use of many calls to action provides volunteers with multiple ways to provide their information to GAL. In some instances websites that are content intensive become cluttered making visitors “pogo stick” or bounce away from the site – something we definitely wanted to avoid! Our use of custom graphics on the HomePage was a conscious decision to inject more personality into the site and to draw more attention to the program as was the integration of their Facebook feed.

Other features of the site include a custom information map so that users can quickly retrieve information about different locations with a click of the mouse, a secured employee login, and an interactive slider highlighting key features of the program.

Authentic Investment

As with all of our clients, we want to ensure that our entire team is invested throughout design and development – we accomplish this through our video creation process. Our video creation process allows us to truly get to know the principals involved and the nature of their business because every member of our team watches them. Even though the training videos we produced for GAL were not the typical attorney service videos we are accustomed to these videos are nonetheless invaluable to their organization and to our team.

While this site was not a typical attorney website it did present a welcome challenge for our team. We appreciate the opportunity to help our community and we’re honored that GAL chose authenticWEB for its web design needs.
